About Live To Remember....

Almost eleven years ago I received a call from my sister saying my nephew/godson had been killed. A few short months later my own son died. Hoping to pull me out of my despair and grief, my husband suggested I learn about using the computer online. I had used computers since I was a teen but didn't know anything about being online. I found out there were many other people who had lost children and turned to the computer for both diversion and comfort. I joined groups and met others and slowly learned to live again.

I started a group with another person but it didn't work out very well between us. Others in the group encouraged me to create my own site for those who had lost a child. I did start one on MSN about three years ago. I have since decided to start this site and hopefully reach out to more people. This new site is open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. Although there are many other grief support sites online, unfortunately it doesn't seem there can be too many as there is such a need for ongoing support. Our society still is not the best at being supportive and those of us who struggle with the loss of someone dear to us need a place to go.

People often say to a grieving person that they should "get over it." However, you do not "get over" loving someone and so you will not "get over" losing them. Together, however, we can learn to cope with the losses and together we can live to remember our loved ones.

I have some essays I wrote about my experiences with grief on my writing website Verbal Invasion that I invite you to read.
